Duggie Fields, (1945 – 2021) was a British artist and fashion icon, whose creative output includes painting, digital art, animation, and music. His bright, graphic pictorial work, which references pop culture and advertising as well as past masters such as Dali, Mondrian, and Warhol, has a distinct post-Pop style that Fields himself described as MAXIMAList.

From the early 1970s onwards, Fields’ work was shown regularly in solo and group exhibitions in the UK and the US. These include exhibitions at the IKON Gallery, Birmingham (1980), Rempire Gallery, New York (1991), the Barbican Centre, London (2002), and Welcome To My World curated by Duovision Arts in Liverpool (2012). In 1983, sponsored by the cosmetics company Shiseido, Fields traveled to Tokyo to produce an exhibition. Shiseido ran an extensive marketing campaign featuring the artist’s work, as well as his self-portraits on television, billboard and subway advertising. Thus Fields was also propelled to icon status in Japan.

Fields lived and worked for over 50 years in an apartment in Earls Court, London. Filled with his artwork and personality, Fields’ apartment was a work of art in its own-right and, as such, was captured by Derek Jarman in the filmmaker’s 1974 work ‘At Home with Duggie Fields’ and was recreated by the Modern Institute for their 2018 Glasgow International presentation.

Duggie Fields is represented by The Duggie Fields Estate & The Modern Institute.
