Joy Gregory

Joy Gregory is a British artist whose practice uses a range of media from video, digital and analogue photography to Victorian print processes. Her works are influenced by a combination of race, gender and aesthetics often reflecting on issues of colonisation and its effects on culture and identity politics.
Part of the Black British photography movement of the 1980s, she is a graduate of Manchester Polytechnic and the Royal College of Art.
In 2019, she was awarded an Honorary Fellowship of the Royal Photographic Society and has been the recipient of numerous awards. Gregory has exhibited globally at many festivals and biennials, and her work is included in the Arts Council Collection, Victoria and Albert Museum, Institute of Modern Art and Yale British Art Collection among many others.
