James Jessop

James

James Jessop’s paintings are a celebration of the birth of New York Subway Graffiti, its journey to a global art movement and all the writers and photographers who captured the scene.

His large-scale and vibrant works often combine classical references with 1970s subway art photographs and pop culture images.

Jessop graduated in Fine Art from Coventry University in 1995 and went on to study at The Royal College of Art in 1997. Since then, he has exhibited worldwide including solo shows in Sao Paulo and Copenhagen and group exhibitions in Melbourne, Moscow, New York and Turin.

Jessop teaches on the Fine Art BA degree course at City and Guilds of London Art School. He lives and works in Glasgow.
