Born in 1937, Tess Jaray RA studied at the Slade School of Fine Art, where she later taught for many years. Her paintings examine pattern, repetition and colour within her surroundings.

As well as for her paintings, Jaray is renowned for major public commissions, which include Centenary Square, Birmingham, and the Forecourt for the New British Embassy in Moscow.

She has exhibited regularly throughout the UK, with a monograph, The Art of Tess Jaray published by Ridinghouse in 2014.
