Christopher Le Brun is a painter, sculptor and printmaker frequently associated with neo-expressionism and post-modernism. He has pioneered an approach to painting informed by a high romantic expansiveness of subject and bravura paint handling. His work continues to be characterised by large scale and an emotional use of colour.

Born in Portsmouth, he studied at the Slade and Chelsea Schools of Art in London. He is represented by Lisson Gallery and Albertz Benda, and his work can be found in the collections of Tate, London, Museum of Modern Art, Metropolitan Museum, Victoria and Albert, Yale and the Art Gallery of New South Wales amongst many others. He has exhibited extensively worldwide, and is represented by galleries in New York, Singapore and Berlin. He was and remains one of the founding trustees of the Royal Drawing School since 2000, and since 2011 he has been President of the Royal Academy.
