Le Berger de L'ile de Ngor

Born Abdoulaye Diallo in 1952, Le Berger de L’ile de Ngor, is a Senegalese artist who took up painting in 2011, having previously been a telecommunications engineer.
Abdoulaye’s paintings, large in scale and full of colour and symbolism, examine society’s relationship with politics, technology, climate change, gender, terrorism and ethics. Of his motivations, and the context of his work’s reception, Le Berger de L’ile de Ngor has said “Here I am on my tiny island, and I have no need to leave. For those who say what I do is interesting, yes. For me, I have found my form of freedom.”
In 2018 Le Berger’s work was included in the Dak’art Biennale.
The artist lives and works at his home on Ngnor Island, Senegal.
