Markey Robinson was a modernist painter and self-taught artist from Belfast in Northern Ireland, whose works number more than 10,000.
Robinson captured another world of Ireland in his paintings. He created a visual idiom of the Irish landscape; the cottage gable ends, shawled figures, and boats. Both a vivid and romantic mindscape was expressed through precise geometry of art and colour.
His subjects included the landscape of Ireland and the Mediterranean, as well as figures, clowns and still-life.
