Arthur Timothy, born in Ghana in 1957, is an artist and architect currently based in the UK. His figurative paintings are both personal and political, weaving narratives that are often drawn from his immediate family’s life, history and recollections of the childhood that he spent in Ghana, Sierra Leone, and in the UK.

Having studied Architecture at The University of Sheffield, UK, Arthur Timothy set up the architectural practice, Timothy Associates, in 1986. As an artist he has exhibited internationally, including with Gallery 1957 in both London and Ghana. His 2021 exhibition with the gallery titled ‘Grandma’s Hands’, was co-curated by writer, journalist, broadcaster and curator, Ekow Eshun and his 2022 solo show titled 'Postcards from a Promised Land', featured a text from literary activist, editor and publisher Dr. Kadija George Sesay.
