John Walter is a British artist whose practice incorporates a diverse range of media including painting, moving images, installation and curation.

Born in Dartford in 1978, he has studied at the Chelsea School of Art and Design, The Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art and The Slade School of Fine Art. In 2017, Walter was awarded a doctorate by The University of Westminster, London.

His works are often characterised by maximalist vivid colour and pattern, and notable projects by the artist include Alien Sex Club which explored the relationship between visual culture and HIV.

He has exhibited widely with recent shows held at Matt’s Gallery, Wellcome Collection, Walker Art Gallery and Hardwick Gallery. Walter’s works are also held in a number of public collections including the Arts Council, Ashmolean Museum and Walker Art Gallery.
