Sculpture

Sculpture refers to the art of creating figurative or abstract works in three dimensions or in relief. A wide range of materials can be used; traditionally they have been stone, wood, metal and plaster. Techniques to treat these materials include carving, welding, modelling and casting.

Nowadays, sculpture can also include body art, installation, land art, performance art, photography, text-based work and video art. This multitude of materials, forms and methods encompassed in the term ‘sculpture’, demonstrate that it is an ever-evolving artform.
