From image to album cover

Artimage worked with art directors and designers from Studio Fury to license Andy Warhol’s Sticky Fingers polaroid, guiding the Studio Fury team through the licensing process so they could be sure they had all the permissions and rights they needed to use the archival photographs from the original photoshoot.

Working on behalf of The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts the Artimage team was able to help Studio Fury obtain a high-quality image file of the original photograph featured on the cover of the book.

Sticky Fingers is renowned as one of the Rolling Stones’ all-time great albums. Polydor Record’s reissue of the album follows the world wide critical and commercial success of the Stones’ two previous deluxe reissues of Exile and Some Girls.

The 120 page hardback book was included in the Super Deluxe Edition boxset, recounting the making of the classic stones album. Illustrated with metallic gold ink throughout, it includes a chapter dedicated to the making of Andy Warhol’s famous polaroid, commissioned by Mick Jagger specifically for the album artwork.
