Jennifer Binnie is a painter and performance artist. Born in 1958, she studied art at Eastbourne College of Art and Design and Portsmouth Polytechnic, before moving to London in the early 1980s.
In London she shared a squat with her then-partner Grayson Perry, sister Christine Binnie and artist Cerith Wyn Evans. Around this time she developed her painting alongside performance activities with the Neo Naturists - a performance and cabaret art group she founded with Christine Binnie and painter Wilma Johnson. When the squat ended in the late 1980s, Binnie returned to her native East Sussex. The influence of her new surroundings came to inspire her paintings at this time, conveying Binnie’s passion for nature, animals and the Sussex landscape.
She has exhibited widely, with notable solo shows held at Gallery 286, London, The blackShed Gallery, East Sussex; Studio Voltaire, London; Kunstverein, Munich; Towner Art Gallery, Eastbourne and Everard Read Gallery, Johannesburg.
Jennifer Binnie is based in Jevington, East Sussex.
