Charlotte Cullinan and Jeanine Richards are an artist duo working collaboratively since 1998, focusing on painting through a variety of means. By producing paintings together they explore a synthesis between painting as image and painting as object and a wider contemporary conversation around expanded painting.

Within their large scale installations Cullinan Richards explore themes including history, family, and shared social and cultural experiences. Their resulting works are a fusion of documentation with fiction and lived personal histories, questioning the position of the artwork and the structure of an exhibition.

They have exhibited widely with notable solo exhibitions including Being Sassy, Dispari&Dispari Project, Berlin (2018); First Unaffected, Unaffected Formal, Formal Effects Last, Cooper Gallery, Dundee (2011) and Maradona Two for Four, The LAB Gallery, Dublin (2010). And have also featured in a number of group shows including Shadowed Forms, Andersen’s Contemporary, Copenhagen (2018); Goodbye Charles, Charles H Scott Gallery, Vancouver (2017) and Of Other Spaces: Where does gesture become event?, Cooper Gallery Dundee (2016 -17). They were amongst the selectors of New Contemporaries 2012 and in 2013 they established 4Cose Italian grocery store with Andrea Sassi at the front of their studio on Vyner Street, London.

Cullinan Richards have work in the Arts Council Collection UK, Marx Collection, Berlin, Sassi family collection Reggio Emilia, Italy, and other private collections.
