Modern Toss

Modern Toss began as a British comic, created in 2004, by Jon Link and Mick Bunnage. Originally appearing on the internet, published as single panel jokes, Modern Toss went on to be released irregularly as printed self published comics. Between 2004 and 2009 the Modern Toss comics were compiled and republished by Macmillan into several books. Two Modern Toss television series, commissioned by Channel 4, have been distributed and aired worldwide, along with several other short animations including Business Mouse and Robin of Essex.
A Kickstarter campaign for Modern Toss’ 10th anniversary book ‘A Decade in the Shithouse’ became the UK’s second biggest comic crowdfunding success in 2014, exceeding its funding target within 48 hours of going live. The book has been described by the Guardian as a 'contemporary cartoon classic' and is now in its third reprint.
An exhibition featuring work from the book was held in Shoreditch in the same year, where the Portrait Booth and the interactive Periodic Table of Swearing were displayed, which had premiered at Latitude Festival in 2011.
Modern Toss successfully broke into the craft beer market in 2018 with their Horse Piss Lager brand, they have just released a game based on their Sneezeman character and are currently working on a choral version of The Periodic Table of Swearing which will debut at the Brighton Festival with a 60 piece choir in 2024.
Modern Toss cartoons have featured regularly in The Guardian, Private Eye, New Scientist and The Sunday Times Style Magazine.
