Gilbert & George: 1970s to the present day

SCAPEGOATING PICTURES now showing at White Cube

Gilbert & George's new body of work, SCAPEGOATING PICTURES for London, presents their characteristically wry, sometimes shocking, commentary on contemporary urban existence.

Today, their home of East London is depicted as a melting pot of cultures and faiths, where the streets are simultaneously walked by the staunchly religious and littered with bullet-like caps left over from the recreational drug-use of its resident hedonists. Once again, Gilbert & George's dead-eyed, suited figures are omnipresent images in the art itself.

The artworks are currently being exhibited at White Cube Bermondsey until 28 September 2014.

Gilbert & George's reflections on a changing modern world
