First ARTIST ROOMS exhibition on Lichtenstein
Roy Lichtenstein was a leading figure of 20th century art and is internationally celebrated for his contribution to the American Pop Art movement. He is widely recognised for his appropriation of imagery from comic books and advertising.
This new, three-part exhibition at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art in Edinburgh will show keys works from his oeuvre, such as Reflections on Girl, 1990 (above) and Reflections: Art, 1988 (below).
The artworks are in the ARTIST ROOMS collection, a collection of modern and contemporary art acquired for the UK public by the National Galleries of Scotland and Tate.
This will be the first ARTIST ROOMS exhibition to focus on Roy Lichtenstein. The exhibition opens on 13 March 2015 until 10 January 2016.
Artimage licence fees support artist's estates
We worked closely with the National Galleries of Scotland to supply images and clear the rights for reproductions of Roy Lichtenstein’s artwork in the promotional materials and merchandising for the exhibition.
We licensed a printed brochure and listings guide, online promotion of the exhibition on the National Galleries of Scotland website, and supplied images for print and online press coverage. We also cleared reproductions of his artwork on fridge magnets, posters and mugs.
Our licence fees go back to the Estate of Roy Lichtenstein, supporting the work of the Roy Lichtenstein Foundation.
