Just in time for photography season: Explore our wide range of photographic art

Grayson Perry, London, 2009, Anne-Katrin Purkiss

Spring is for snapshots

Alongside occasional sunshine, spring in London brings with it a series of internationally recognised photography events. Fotofringe London on 17 April is the UK’s most important image licensing event – in fact, you can see us there - and Somerset House’s Photo London, 17 – 20 May brings together galleries and artists from all over the world. Tate Modern’s Shape of Light: 100 Years of Photography and Abstract Art exhibition will run from 2 May until 14 October.

Shooting wide

Artimage features a wide range of photographers and photography styles in its collection; from political commentaries by the likes of Martin Jenkinson, Paul Hill and Pogus Caesar, to portraits of the biggest artists by photographers including Anne-Katrin Purkiss, Johnnie Shand Kydd and Nicholas Sinclair.

Brian Griffin and Catherine Yass pioneer experimental photography movements of their own, while Hannah Collins, Roger Palmer and Rut Blees Luxemburg see familiar environments through new lenses.

Not forgetting, of course, an array of seminal artworks by John Deakin, Tracey Emin and Andy Warhol – including his infamous polaroid for The Rolling Stone’s Sticky Finders album cover - all captured on film.
