Over 50 artists support DACS Foundation
Charles Avery, Frank Bowling, Susan Hiller, Tim Noble and Sue Webster, and Yinka Shonibare MBE are among a host of artists represented by Artimage who are supporting DACS Foundation. They join over 50 internationally recognised artists in donating their work to raise money for DACS Foundation’s forthcoming initiatives supporting the visual arts in the UK.
The majority of works will be auctioned online by Paddle8.com this autumn. Bidding will open from 10 September until 9.30pm on 24 September.
A number of works - including pieces by Tracey Emin and Richard Wentworth - will be sold at Christie’s on 23 September, as a dedicated section of the FIRST OPEN auction. More information about the auctions will be available on DACS Foundation’s website.
Proceeds will support artists and artists’ estates in the UK in the three main areas:
- legacy planning and archive management initiatives;
- education activities aimed at helping artists to safeguard their rights and the integrity of their practice;
- an on-going programme of debates, symposia and publications that will engage a public discourse on the value of artists to society
Susan Hiller said: “I've been very happy to support the DACS Foundation from its beginning. The artistic path is precarious and the cuts in public funding we've seen over the past few years have made it increasingly difficult for many artists to sustain their practice. Artists need DACS Foundation, a charitable organisation dedicated to supporting the creation of new work and conserving existing artwork for future generations.”
