Nature, including animal life, plants, landscape and any other feature of the natural world, has always provided inspiration for artists. Since the 1960s ever-new deteriorating effects on the environment, such as climate change, have also led artists to respond creatively to these developments.

Artists in this collection, such as Richard Long, Jason de Caires Taylor and Roger Hiorns, explore artistic interventions in land and seascape settings. Other artists such as Ian McKeever and Keith Tyson visually reproduce elements of nature and landscape in their paintings to explore natural systems.
