A portrait is an artistic representation of a person, often in paintings, photographs and sculpture. Portraits usually depict the face or head and shoulders and often elude to a subject’s personality and inner thoughts – or simply how they appeared to the artist on the day they sat.
Our collection of portraits includes works which push at the boundaries of what a portrait can be. Covering a range of mediums, movements and decades, it includes works by Francis Bacon, Nicholas Sinclair, Humphrey Ocean, Andy Warhol and Tracey Emin.
